they chose to help, even at their busiest!
I’m from CN46. We started our Homes earlier this year with a group of students between the ages of 18 and 22, and three young working adults. We’re a young bunch, literally!
A few weeks ago, our church had a Combined Homes for the Mandarin Community to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. That same morning, my Homes was scheduled to teach kids in our community. It was also the exam season.
I was worried they wouldn’t be able to make it and that manpower would be an issue.
While two other leaders and I were already preparing to handle everything ourselves, I prayed that our Homies would be able to attend both events and help out.
It was one week before the community service and Combined Homes when we told our Homies about the events.
Their response was lukewarm.
Judging by their reactions at that time, I had the impression that most of them would not be there to help. They had exams anyways.
After Homes however, everyone started texting to say that they were going. I was really proud of them!
They were busy working, preparing for exams, and had packed, busy schedules… one of them had even gone for an operation just a few days before! Still, they chose to help; to honour God.
That day, I felt deeply that CN46 gave me a sense of ‘home’.
After the Combined Homes ended, some even stayed to help with the cleaning and packing.
Through these events, I can see how my Homies truly honoured God. Such faith at such a young age! Their diligence and willingness to serve were great testaments for me to work even harder.
I’m happy that in a big church family, there’s a small family that connects us – we learn from each other, take care of one another, and grow together while experiencing all these precious memories.
CN46, I love all of you!
